Meet WOMEN’S WAY’s 2022 Change The Narrative Fellows: Alisha Gillespie

Alisha Gillespie is an advocate for the Building Health and Wealth Network at Drexel University and has been on the leadership advisory council for over three years. She has been instrumental in helping change policies for TANF clients, and believes that advocating for women of color is imperative to a changing world. Alisha has experience with public speaking both in the radio and media.

She has been featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer, where she shared her experience as a single mother of three being on assistance; the highs and lows of TANF, and the child tax credit. Alisha is a high school graduate with some college credits. Her goal is to become a speaker and therapist for those less fortunate. As a born-and-raised Philadelphian, Alisha is passionate about becoming the help she always wanted. Her hobbies include writing, painting, and singing in the choir. Alisha is strong, resilient, unique, and determined to make a difference. As a visionary, her motivation is her children- she wants them to know better and to do better.

Alisha wants people to know that they can make it!! No matter their background!
